How it all Works

So, you’ve just lost your first tagged item. Don’t worry! Our process is easy. Once your item is found, the finder can fill out their contact details and the RecoTags’ unique identification number. We’ll check the form and then contact you through the details you provided when registering.

Next, we work with both parties to find a secure location for you to meet and retrieve your item. Using us for third-party communication helps protect make the process easier and more secure.

Security Tips for Finding Valuables

There are a few precautions we recommend you take before meeting with the finder of your belongings. Firstly, we suggest that you never provide them with your full name or any other information. If you meet physically, make sure it’s in public and away from anything or any place that could identify you—try a shopping centre or outside a police station. If the item is being posted, try organising for them to be sent to a P.O. box.

If you’re collecting a set of keys, be mindful of anything that may identify you such a keyring with your workplace logo. If you can’t meet the finder, don’t worry! A member of our team can retrieve the item for you.

Yes, RecoTags can organise to return of items, so you do not need to deal with anyone. The only cost will be the postage of the item to our P.O. Box in Mackay if applicable.

No. We do not disclose the owners' details to the finder in any way. We get a contact for the finder and contact the owner to liaise between the two parties, keeping things completely secure.
